William Wegman

In my blog I photograhped Misty (the cat) and the new born calf. I was really inspired by Willian Wegman. His work is quite comical and a bit strange, but i really like how the images looked. I came across him on google.
Here is an example of his animal portrait...

Joiner Example

So, I was asken to go out and take photos of something/one and produce a joiner.
This is what I produced, I'm not happy with this. I think it is terrible and i could have done a lot better if i tried harder. I really wasn't taken by this. But willing to give it another go.

Week 3

This week, I tried doing some Macro shots, using a light box and ring flash. This is my first proper attempt at macro. I think the images came out alright, I could have improved on the expouse a little more, but all-in-all it's an alright result. I want to do another macro shot using different objects.

I like the macro shots. It's a nice way to show another prespective of the smaller things.

Macro makes the objects look more abstract.

"My Chosen Image"

The image above is being viewed in isolation. However, it will have been made at a particular stage of the maker’s career and maybe as part of a series of images. By exploring this possibility it may be easier it gain a sense of the photographer’s intentions.
This is a colour portrait of Christina Aguilera , taken by the legendary American photographer, David Lachapelle. It is a high-key studio image. She has corest tie over her mouth, which suggests that she has “no voice”. Her hair and make-up have been made up to look sophisticated and elegant. She is crying, this makes it seem as she has been abused, possibly sexually as she her bare shoulders make her look topless. She is looking up towards the ceiling, in hope or desperation. The blue background is calming, but could also suggest sadness in her life.
This image is part of Lachapelle’s “Declare Yourself” series, which was a campaign during the 2004 United States presidential elections, to encourage young people to vote. There are many other images to the series, they pretend to be clichéd commercials for different products but all end with the same ending: Silence. After each image, there's an eerie silence as the words "Only You Can Silence Yourself" appear, followed by a voice whispering "Register to vote now." The above image has been very cleverly set up, without reading up on the series the first thought that comes to mind is that she has been a part of domestic violence. Lachapelle has created a piece of work that makes the viewer think about the meaning.
The images in this series also have a sexual theme to them; “Declare Yourself” hired Lachapelle and Marc Liddel to shoot a bondage-themes print advertising campaign. Lachapelle has shown this in the above image by using a corset looking tie over Christina’s mouth.

Week 2

So this week I wanted to take some photos of things I see everyday. Such as animals, flowers and what not. Things in life that I take for granted. I'm going to use a Canon 350D for this week with a standard lens.

Here are my images...

this is a window in the "Old Dairy". I walk past it everyday and always thought that it would make a nice photo. It's okay i guess, i could possibly do a HDR edit of it at some point and make it more interesting. It's a litte bit to dark for my liking..

"The Old Bath Tub" which cows now drink out of. Since living on a farm all my life, i have always liked these old baths. I wanted to try and focus on the small bubbles more than anything. I think it came out alright. With a better lens it would have looked better.

The calf was born 2 days previous of this photo. although i don't like this one very much as the lighting was terrible in the barn and i had the camera on a slower shutter speed, meaning there was camera shake and you can see movement on the calf. I wanted to upload this image.

This is Misty, the newest member of the house. I wanted to get some close ups of her to show her colouring and eyes. I love how this image and the image below came out. It really captures her personality. she quite likes the camera (:

Misty, again.

Week 1

This first weeks images are of the beaches around the town that i live in. I'm please with the result, as it takes me a little longer than most people to get into a project. But hey-ho...I just used a simple digital compact camera for this week, due to the fact that the technicians lost my form!! nice one.

I was watching this dog for a while, and he was really going for it over the beach. I really wanted to show the dog in motion. It's alright i think. Focusing on the black and white theme.

Another black and white image, i like this and how detailed the plants are.

This is a rail, in case you couldnt work it out. I like this one a lot actually. I like the composition of it and how it's really focused.

this is a clan of mussels that i came across, i love the colour of this. and the shadow of the rock across them, it makes them look enclosed.

this is an iconic piece of this beach "Barrel Rock" clearly because there is a barrel stuck up on a rock. It has been there for years and many people take photos of it. I like the contrast of the rocks and the sky.
